
FOUND A WILD ANIMAL IN DISTRESS?
You should only ever consider rescuing a wild animal in distress IF:

The animal is visibly & severely injured

The animal is clearly sick and suffering

It is really an orphaned wild baby
-
It is in an unsafe or inappropriate location

It is being harassed by humans or domestic animals
-
You can do so safely​​​

Call your local wildlife rehabilitator immediately!

Use protective gloves and gear to handle the animal

Do not attempt with large animals or predators

Be aware of injury potential (talons, teeth, etc.)

Cover their eyes to keep them calm before attempting to handle them

Put them in a sturdy cardboard box with airholes, or a pet carrier
-
Place the box somewhere warm, dark, quiet and safe until it can be transported to a wildlife rehab
-
Do not feed the animal or provide it with water unless instructed to do so by a wildlife rehabilitator
